Waltham Watch Co. 18 size 21 jewel open face lever-set Grade 845 with very rare red and white Fitch's Patent marginal minute double-sunk enamel dial.  This very distinctive and eye catching dial design was patented by Waltham Watch Co. President Ezra C. Fitch in 1901, but it apparently never caught on with the market place and examples of this red and white version are quite rare.  This particular example is marked above the seconds-bit with the Patent date of March 26, 1901 while the handful of other examples I've seen have evidently been slightly earlier as they've been marked "Pat Appl'd For".  Watch is housed in a 10K gold-filled Keystone J. Boss swingout case.  Movement serial number is 16111761.

Running and a nice looking movement with good color and luster.  Dial has an attractive in hand look but with the main flaw of a small patched chip below the 7 O'clock numeral and dial also has a small light scratch to the area just below/left of the center hole, a light hairline in the inner chapter below the 5 O'clock numeral, and faint hairlines in the outer chapter at 30 and 57 minutes.  Case is attractive with a good in hand look and feel.  Inner ring of case that hinges open to show the movement opens and closes very tightly.
